According to news on the morning of December 16, Huawei today announced the official launch of the mobile developer beta version of HarmonyOS. Wang Chenglu, President of Huawei’s Consumer Business Software Department, said that this year, Midea, Joyoung, Robam Electric, and Puffin Technology will be equipped with Hongmeng OS. The goal this year is to cover more than 100 million devices from 40+ mainstream brands.
Wang Chenglu said that the rapid development of the Internet of Things is a historic opportunity for the mobile industry in the next ten years, but the innovation of mobile Internet is still limited to single mobile phone devices.
He pointed out that system fragmentation hinders business innovation in the era of the Internet of Everything. Developers have to develop repeatedly for different devices and lack efficient development tools; consumers also lack an application ecosystem and applications need to be installed repeatedly.
Hongmeng OS is designed for the interconnection of everything, with a better experience and more entrances. For example, he said that with Hongmeng OS, JD.com App can run on TVs, even refrigerators and other screen devices. Hundreds of millions of devices will become the new entrance to JD.com; millions of cars can become the entrance to Ximalaya App; more smart terminals will become UnionPay payment portal, such as PC, TV, etc.
Wang Chenglu said that this year, devices from Midea, Joyoung, Boss Electric, and Puffin Technology have been equipped with Hongmeng OS, and in 2021, Hongmeng OS will cover more than 100 million devices from 40+ mainstream brands.
