A creepy deep-sea squid with eyes as big as dinner plates has been found on a beach in South Africa. Experts determined that it may have ventured into shallow water in search of food, but was unfortunately hit by a boat propeller and drifted to the shore.
The giant squid carcass was discovered on the beach on the 16th. It is 4.3 meters long. Its eyes are as big as dinner plates, which is enough for them to see prey in the deep sea. Zoologists also found that most of the squid’s skin had been worn away, and even some of its tentacles had been broken off. Some people speculate that it may have entered the diving area to look for food, but was unfortunately hit by a propeller and was finally washed ashore.
In fact, the size of this “sea monster” pales in comparison to the largest squid ever discovered. According to research, the largest squid can be up to 20 meters long, although no one has ever seen this size.
